We made it! On February, 1, 2021 the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) announced their decision: Munich is among the last three applicants to host the Gay Games 2026. We are all incredibly proud that we have achieved this important milestone and congratulate the two remaining bid cities Guadalajara (Mexico) and Valencia (Spain) on this success! It has been an exciting journey so far: twenty cities from around the world had initially expressed interest in hosting the 2026 Games.
At this point we would like to thank everyone who supported us on our journey, including in particular: the city of Munich, the Olympiapark Munich, the TUM campus of the Olympiapark, BMW and Siemens, Thomas Hitzlsperger, FC Bayern München and all other supporters and sponsors.
We are confident and positive that Munich would be a great host: not only because Munich has been named the most livable city in the world. All guests and participants will certainly enjoy the Olympic spirit when watching and participating in the many sport and cultural events. We feel empowered to build a legacy with our outreach to our Eastern Europe neighbors and friends. Submitting an extended bid book and site inspections are the next steps in the bid process. With our committed and constantly growing team of volunteers, partners and sponsors we continue to dream to be named the host of Gay Games XII, which will finally be determined at the FGG's Annual General Assembly meeting in Hong Kong in November 2021.
